First Fridays

We are home to the galleries, cultural institutions, renowned restaurants, independently-owned boutiques and shops. The Downtown Neighborhood Association (DNA) represents the residents, businesses, and non-profit organizations in the area and proudly presents the First Fridays Art Walk on the first Friday of every month and Broad Appétit, the city’s largest food festival, on the first Sunday in June.

Our mission is to retain and expand the residential and business base, improve the appearance and perception of our neighborhood, and to cooperate with other community resources and agencies to ensure an adequate voice and representation for those we serve.

Attention writers!RICHMOND WRITE NOW:
A workshop series for Richmond writers

We miss creating. Theatres are still (mostly) closed and Broadway has recently announced a June 2021 reopening, but what does that mean for regional companies and artists still missing the collaborative process?

Facilitated by local playwright, Dante Piro, Richmond Write Now is a new workshop series providing an interactive opportunity for Richmond writers. Over four weeks, this working group will meet digitally every week with the goal of each member creating an original 10-15 minute play or screenplay to be produced and presented in a COVID-safe format.

Writers of all experience levels are encouraged to sign up! If you’ve been blocked and struggling to write this past year: this workshop is for you.

There will be five slots available to be filled, first-come, first serve. The online application will be posted Saturday, October 17th at 12PM EST. Weekly meetings will take place from Saturday, October 24th through Saturday, November 14th.

This is a FREE program, so please only sign up if you are able to commit to the weekly meetings. If you are unable to join this first time, there will be more opportunities to follow.

For any questions, please email Dante Piro at #RVA #SUPPORTLOCAL #WRITERS
