Our History

The Downtown Neighborhood association began as a way for the businesses, non-profits, and residents of the Richmond Arts District to come together and advocate for the region. In planning the monthly Richmond First Fridays Art Walk, Broad Appetit Food festival, and community enhancement projects, the Downtown Neighborhood Association continues to help lift the community we all call home.

We are proud of:

  • First Fridays Art Walk

  • Richmond’s Largest Food Festival

  • Some of Richmond’s Greatest Businesses

  • Many Non-Profits Doing Wonderful Work in the Community

Whether you are living, visiting, or learning the area, The Downtown Neighborhood Association and Richmond Arts District has something to add to every walk of life.

The arts are not a way to make a living. They are a very human way of making life more bearable. Practicing an art, no matter how well or badly, is a way to make your soul grow, for heaven’s sake.
